Karen Dudek - Ministerial Author/Editor - Co-Chair
A graduate of the University of Notre Dame, Karen Dudek is the mother of five daughters who, with the support of her husband, Ken, is the leader of Beata Ministries.
After a renewal of faith in 1988, which led to a concentrated period of study of the Catholic Catechism, she began teaching catechism, preparing students for the Sacraments of Reconciliation, Eucharist and Confirmation at her home parish. A member of the Sharers of the Word Ministry in Windsor, Canada, for over 9 years, she became a faith sharing leader, worship leader and teacher. She home-schooled her children for 9 years and began the family worship and music ministry, Beata, with her daughters.
Since 2007, the Oakland Press has published twenty-five of her guest opinion columns on topics of faith, society and life issues. She began a position as a Catholic writer on examiner.com in May of 2009 where she has written hundreds of articles on Catholic issues. Invited to write for Live Action News and Opinion in March 2012, her articles are often reprinted in various on-line pro-life associations and recommended on Google.
A founder of St. Mary of the Hills Catholic Church in Rochester Hills, Karen and her husband are active volunteers, have served on various committees since 1990, and led faith-sharing groups for 17 years.
Anna Marchese - Singer/Songwriter
Anna, the eldest of the Dudek girls, began assisting in the religious education department at her parish, St. Mary of the Hills, by age 10 and began teaching the catechism after her Confirmation. She taught catechism classes as Sacrament preparation for 4 years at St. Mary’s.
A member of the Sharers of the Word Ministry in Windsor, Canada, she led faith-sharing groups for 2 years and began faith-sharing with young adults through Agape Ministries in Rochester Hills, Michigan, leading the group for 5 years.
Anna has a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the University of Dayton where she also worked in pro-life and campus ministry groups. After graduation, she taught Spanish, Latin, and ESL at Catholic schools: Everest Elementary Academy in Clarkston, Michigan for four years, and Marian High School in West Bloomfield for two years.
Anna also loves to serve God through music. She plays piano and guitar, is a Mass cantor and has sung in several choirs for over 11years. She has composed several of her own songs recording them and performing them at Praise and Worship services.
Anna and her husband Daniel have been married for almost a year and are excitedly expecting the arrival of twin boys in January 2013.
Rachel Dudek - Singer/Songwriter
Rachel Dudek has been an active music minster since she joined the adult choir at St. Mary of the Hills in Rochester Hills at age twelve.
At the University of Michigan, Rachel went on to study engineering and music, graduating with a BSE in Chemical Engineering and with a minor in music in 2008. While at U of M, she was an active member of St. Catherine House and served as interim housemother. She sang and played guitar to lead worship and serve as a leader in Generation Christ young adult ministry and The Village teen ministry at St. Thomas the Apostle in Ann Arbor.
Rachel is a dedicated music minister at Sheil Catholic Center in Evanston, Illinois where she is a PhD candidate in Chemical and Biological Engineering at Northwestern University. She is a Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center Malkin Scholar and award-winning teaching assistant.
Rachel continues to sing with her sisters and plans to record more in the future. Her solo, It Is Well, on the Beata 2009 album, The Lord is Our Hope, was nominated for the Detroit Music Award.
Sarah Dudek - Music Director
Sarah Dudek, a graduate of Xavier University in Cincinnati as of 2010, completed her degree in music performance and theology and works as a professional musician in Detroit. As a performer, her guest appearances have taken her from the chorus of the Cincinnati Ballet, to the Gem theater in Detroit, to Xavier's stage in starring musical theater roles and as ensemble member, soloist, and guest conductor in all of the University's major choral ensembles. She has been invited all throughout her four years at Xavier to be the piano soloist for University special events, award ceremonies, as well as Cincinnati’s West Hills Music Club, from whom she received their musical award and scholarship in 2010.
As an accompanist, Sarah has worked with the Xavier University Concert Choir and served as the staff accompanist for the Kentucky Institute of International Studies’ music program in Salzburg, Austria.
Sarah arranged and directed the music of Beata’s debut album, The Lord Is My Hope, and has collaborated with other recording artists as a guest vocalist. As a minister, Sarah was active in Campus Ministry at Xavier, working as a liturgical music intern and serving on numerous liturgical committees, student retreat teams, and planning committees for parish missions.
Since 2006, Sarah has worked as a substitute liturgical musician throughout the Archdiocese of Detroit and Cincinnati, as well as in Jewish synagogues and Presbyterian churches. She now works full time in ministry as the Director of Music Ministry at St. Alfred Parish in Taylor, Michigan, a member of the board of directors for Detroit’s chapter of the National Association of Pastoral Musicians, a vocalist in the Archdiocesan Chorus of Detroit, and pop culture writer for Beata Ministries.
Jessica Dudek - Chairperson - Director of Sales and Marketing - Singer/Songwriter
Jessica Dudek is a senior at Western Michigan University earning her bachelors in Marketing.
Jessica’s energy and passion is geared toward ministry and the arts. An actress at heart, she began performing in small summer productions and worked up to lead roles in high school. Before she graduated, she also directed three plays including her original musical, Behind The Mask (2009), and was awarded the prestigious Director’s Award at Adams High School in Rochester Hills.
As a musician at WMU, she has participated in the top choirs, opera workshop, and has assisted in leading worship through Intervarsity Immerse, and at St. Thomas More.
Jessica received a 2011 internship at Manhattan Concert Productions in New York City. There, she participated in multimedia marketing, professional recruitment, database development, communication draft meetings, and concert hospitality for Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center.
As the Chairperson for Beata Ministries, Jessica is the website creative designer and IT developer/implementer. Jessica runs general management and updates on the website, and is the head of music sales and marketing.
Jessica is the current leader of Girl’s Group through Intervarsity Immerse at WMU where she organizes regular meetings, plans events, and provides spiritual counsel.
Mary Dudek - Singer/Songwriter
Mary Dudek is in her sophomore year at the University of Michigan School of Art and Design. She is a liturgical artist, working to create pieces of artwork for the church. In the summer of 2013, she had a piece exhibited in "Art for God's Sake" religious art show at St. Anastasia Parish in Troy, MI. As a singer, since 2005, she has participated in State and Regional Honors Choir, and received superior ratings at State and Regional Solo & Ensemble festivals.
Mary’s first emphasis has been on using her gifts for the Lord. She began cantoring Masses at St. Mary of the Hills at age 14, and has sung at special services, funerals, and weddings ever since. She sings with her sisters on Beata recordings and prayer services.
